ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

The Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (No. 4) Order 1998

Laid before Parliament 6th January 1999

Coming into force 27th January 1999

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 153(4) of the Environmental Protection Act 19901and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

S-1 Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (No. 4) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 27th January 1999.

S-2 Variation of section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990

Variation of section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990

2. In section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (purposes for which financial assistance may be given), the following paragraph shall be inserted after paragraph (hh)2:–

“(ii)

“(ii) the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North East Atlantic.”.

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order varies section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 so as to enable the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, to give financial assistance to, or for the purposes of, an international agreement, namely the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North East Atlantic (Cmnd 2265).


(2) Section 153(1) was amended by S.I.Nos.1991/146, 1991/682, 1991/1179, 1992/654, 1993/1062, 1993/1518, 1995/150, 1995/554, 1995/1085, 1995/3099, 1996/505, 1996/1431, 1997/651, 1998/538 and 1998/1001.
