Firms urged to 'woo web shoppers.

More than 60 per cent of consumers around the world use digital technology to obtain information while making purchases, new research has found.

The study, by EY. is based on a survey of 30,000 consumers in 34 countries and interviews with executives. Its research report, "Consumers on board", advises companies to target these sophisticated online shoppers to obtain a long-term competitive advantage.

Consumers in China are the most avid digital shoppers, with 75 per cent of respondents making purchases online. The equivalent figures in the UK and US are 50 per cent and 63 per cent respectively. Transactions concerning...
