CONTAMINATION OF FOOD

Whereas the Secretary of State is of the opinion, in accordance with section 1(1)(a) of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985( a), that there has been or may have been an escape of substances of such descriptions and in such quantities and such circumstances as are likely to create a hazard to human health through human consumption of food;

And whereas the Secretary of State is of the opinion, in accordance with section 1(1)(b) of the said Act, that in consequence of the said escape of substances food which is or may be in the future in the area described in Schedule 1 to the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Wales) (No. 2) Order 1986( b), or which is derived or may be in the future derived from anything in that area, is, or may be, or may become, unsuitable for human consumption;

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the said section 1(1) and 24(3) of the said Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:--

Title and commencement

1. This order may be cited as the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Wales) (No. 2) Amendment Order 1986 and shall come into operation on 3rd October 1986.

Partial revocation and amendment

2. The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Wales) (No. 2) Order 1986 is revoked to the extent that it imposes prohibitions in respect of sheep which are in the area described in article 4 of this order on 3rd October 1986; and accordingly that order is further amended in accordance with the following provisions of this order.

(a) 1985 c. 48.

(b) S.I. 1986/1681.

3. In article 7, after paragraph (e), there shall be added the following paragraph--

"(f) was in those parts of the designated area described in paragraph 6 of the said Schedule 2 on 3rd October 1986.".

4. In Schedule 2 there shall be inserted, after paragraph 5, the following paragraph--

"Area excepted from restrictions on 3rd October 1986

6. An area comprising those parts of the designated area which lie within the following boundaries:--

(1) From a point on the unmarked road at OS map reference SH 857494 at Pont Caletwr in a generally north-easterly direction to its junction with the unmarked road at OS map reference SH 863498, generally eastwards along the unmarked road passing Bryn Gwyn and Plas Idyn to its junction with the unmarked road at OS map reference SH 889505 near Rhydlydan; southwards along the unmarked road passing Penrhyn, Garn Brys and Bryn to its junction with the unmarked road at OS map reference SH 898475 near Pengwern; in a generally westerly direction along the fence passing through OS map references SH 894477, SH 893479, SH 888480 and SH 885477 to a point on the county boundary near Coppa Ceiliog at OS map reference SH 881482 generally south westwards along the fence following the line of the county boundary to a point at OS map reference SH 868458 on Nant Y Glychedd continuing in a northerly direction along Nant Y Glychedd and Nant Llan-gwrach to a point at OS map...
