The Minister of Housing and Local Government, with the consent of the Treasury and after consultation with the associations of local authorities appearing to him to be concerned and the local authority with whom consultation appeared to him to be desirable, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2(4) of the Local Government Act 1958(a) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:—

1. This order may be cited as the General Grant (Increase) Order 1964 and shall come into operation on the day following the day on which it is approved by a resolution of the Commons House of Parliament.

2. For the items set out in column (2) of the subjoined table, prescribed by the General Grant (Increase) Order 1963(b) for the purposes of the general grants for the year 1964–65 in respect of the matters indicated in column (1), there shall be substituted the items specified in column (3).
