Talk to most people about Brexit
and you get an eye-roll: yes, it
might all be very important, but
it just drags along, never-ending
and distracting us from all the other things
we should be talking about. Quite apart
from the Johnson government’s message
of ‘get Brexit done’, many in the corridors
of power would be happy to see the back
of the process of withdrawal from the
European Union.
That frustration with the slow progress
of it all raises an important question: is
the delay due to the complexities of the
Getting Brexit Done,
or Getting Brexit
Done Right?
Why has the UK’s exit from the European Union proved so diff‌icult?
Is it all down to spoiling tactics by Brexit’s opponents? Or do Britain’s
travails reveal the deeper challenges of leaving the EU?

of the Brexit debate in the UK – from
the Prime Minister down – the latter
interpretation is one that is seen as credible
