An Act to confer further powers upon

HEREAS
it
is expedient that the Great Northern Railway

Company (hereinafter referred to as
''
the Company
")
should
be authorised-
To
make and maintain the works hereinafter described
;
To
abolish certain level crossings of their railway and otherwise
to deal with certain
roads
and footpaths connected with their
undertaking
;
To
purchase and acquire additional lands and easements for the
purposes
of
their undertaking
;
To
raise capital for the purposes of this Act and other the general
purposes of their undertaking
:
And whereas
it
is expedient that the powers conferred upon the

extended by the Great Northern Bailway Act 1897

And whereas
it
is expedient thac the powers conferred upon the
Company by the Act
of
1899 for the compulsory purchase
of
lands
in the parishes of St. Mary Islington Friern Barnet Wood Green
Eaat Barnet South
Mimms
North Mimms Hatfield Hitchin Urban
Walsworth Langford Sandy Newark (adjoining
Cross
Street Branch)
Ranskill Liberty of Newstead Derby Stanley and East Ardsley
should be extended
:
Amd whereas
it
is expedient that the period limited by the Act
of 1899 for the compulsory purchase of lands for the following
purposes by that Act authorised namely The widening and improve-
ment
at
Peberborough the diversion of roads
at
Highbury the
extension
of
bridge at Hatfield and the construction of the new road
and diversion of
road
at
Peterborough should be extended
:
And whereas
it
is expedient that the time prescribed
for
the sale
of superfluous lands acquired by the Company
and
by the Company
jointly with other companies under the powers of va.rious Acts
and
not yet applied to
the
purposes of the
undertahngs
in respect of
which they were
so
acquired should
be
extended
:
And whereas under and by virtue
of
and the Sutton and Willoughby Railway (Muble-
thorpe Extension) Act 1886 the
Svtton
and Willoughby Railway
Company (in this Act called
the
Sutton
Company
’’1
who were
incorporated by the first-mentioned Act have constructed railways
in
the county
of
Lincoln from Sutton to Willoughby and thence to
Mablethorpe which are worked by the Company under
an
agreement
dated the ninth day of August one thousand eigbt hundred and
eighty-six scheduled
to
and confirmed by the before-mentioned Act
of
1886
:
And whereas the Company have under the terms of the said
agreement executed certain additional works
ah
a
cost of three
thousand nine hundred and sixty-six pounds twelve shillings and
that sum
with
interest thereon at the rake
of
five pounds per centum
per annum since the Grst day of October one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-seven is owing to the Company
:
And whereas the share capital of the Sutton Company
is
eighty-
four thousand pounds and they have
raised
by
mortgage debentures
the
sum
of twenty-eight thousand pounds
:
And whereas
it
is
expedient and will conduce to
the
usefulness
of
the said railways that they should
be
transferred to the Company
and that
the
agreement with reference thereto set forth in the
schedule
to
this Act should be confirmed
:
And whereas
it
is expedient that the Company and the

Central Railway Company (in this Act called “the Central
