Act
for
enabling the North Eastern Railway Company
AD.
1899.

and the Hull Barnsley and West Riding Junction
Railway and Dock Company
to
make
a
dock and
railways
at
Hull and
for
other purposes.

HEREAS
it
is
expedient that the Norch Eastern Railway
w
Company (in ihis Act called
"
the North Eastern Company
'7
and the
Hull
Barnsley and West Riding Junction Railway and
Dock Company (in this Act called
"
the
Hull
and Barnsley
Corcpany
")
should be authorised to make jointly
or
severally as
in
this Act mentioned the dock railways and other works by this
Act authorised and t'o acquire and hold the lands in this Act
described and that the other powers
in
this Act mentioned should be
conferred on the North Eastern Company and the Hull and Barnsley
Company (in this Act referred to
as
'(
the Two Companies
")
or
one
o€
them
:
And whereas
it
is
expedient that the powers rights and authorities
by this Act conferred upon the
Two
Companies jointly should be
exercised
on
their behalf
by
a
joint committee as
by
this Act
provided
:
And whereas plans and sections showing the lines and levels
of
the said dock railways and other works and plans
of
the said lands
and also
books
of reference containing the names
of
the owners and
lessees
or
reputed owners and lessees and of the occupiers of the
said lands were duly deposited with the clerk
of
the peace for the
city and county
of
Kingston-upon-Hull and with the clerk
of
the
peace
for
the
East
Riding of the county of York which plans and
sections and
books
of
reference are in this Act respectively referred
to
as
the deposihed plans sections and
books
of reference
:
And whereas it
is
expedient that the agreement made between
the Two Companies aijd set
forth
in
tho
First
Schedule to this Act

Companies should
respectively be authorised to raise additional capital
for
the purposes
of
thjs
Act:
And whereas the purposes
of
this Act cannot be effected without
the authority
of
Parliament
:

it
therefore please
Your
Majesty that
it
may be enacted and
be
it
enacted by the Queen's
most
Excellent Majesty by and with
the advice and consent
of
the Lords Spiritual and Temporal and
Commons in this present Parliament assembled and by the authority
of
the same
as
follows (that'

This Act may be cited
for
all purposes
as
the Hull Joint
Dock Act;
1899.

The following Acts and parts of Acts are (except where
expressly varied by
this
Act) incorporated with and form part

this Act (that is to

with respect to lifeboats and with respect to

keeping
a
tide and weather gauge shall not be in force
for
the
-
purposes of this Act except
so
far as may from time
to
time
be
required by the Board
of
Trade.
The several words and expressions to which meanings are
assigned by the Acts wholly
or
partially incorporated
herewith have the isame respective meanings unless there
5e something in the subject
or
context repugnant to such
construction
:
The expression

The expression “the joint undertaking” means such of the
lands and works which the Two Companies are loy this Act
authorised to acquire and make as shall become vested in the
joint committee

means the mayor aldermen
and citizens
of
the city and county
of
Kingston-upon-Hull.

A dock with a lock and entrance from the River Humber
situate on lands between thc outfall of the HolderneAs drain
on the west and the Old Fleet drain and the Salt End pasture
on
the east and between the rive11 wall or embankment
herein-after mentioned on the south and Hedon Road on the
north

sluice or outlet in the same
