The Immature Bass (Variation) Order 1983

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretaries of State respectively concerned with the sea fishing industry in Scotland and Wales, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 1(1) and (2) and 20(1) of the Sea Fish (Conservation) Act 1967 (a), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following order:—

Citation and commencement

1. This order may be cited as the Immature Bass (Variation) Order 1983 and shall come into operation on 30th April 1983.

Variation of the Immature Bass Order 1981

2. The Immature Bass Order 1981 (b) shall be varied by substituting for article 4 thereof the following article:—

"Minimum size for bass

4. For the purposes of section 1(1) and (2) of the Sea Fish (Conservation) Act 1967 (which prohibits the landing or sale in Great Britain of any sea fish of any description, being a fish of a smaller size than such size as may be prescribed in relation to sea fish of that description), a length of 32 centimetres is hereby prescribed in relation to bass of the species Dicentrarchus labrax."
