AStatus of the American Convention on Human Rights
During this period, Nicaragua has accepted the jurisdiction of the Inter-
American Court of Human Rights under article 62 of the Convention,
bringing the number of States accepting the Court's jurisdiction to 13.

As usual, the Annual Report contains, among others, a Chapter on
resolutions passed on individual cases, another concerning the situation of
human rights in several States, and yet another identifying the areas in
which steps need to be taken to achieve full observance of human rights.
Some of the important aspects of the report are examined below.
Resolutions on individual cases
El Salvador. The report publishes five resolutions on cases concerning EI
Salvador.
The
cases involve 20
victims
of torture and extra-judicial
executions and in all of them the State failed to provide the Commission
with the information requested on the events.
It
is noteworthy that in some
of the cases the Governmental Human Rights Commission of EI Salvador
participated in the cases by providing some information on them. Unfor-
tunately, there is no evidence from this informationthat the Governmental
Commission undertook any activitywhatsoever directed to identifying the
authors of these violations.
United States
of
America. A resolution on a case against the United States
addresses again the issue of capital punishment in the United States (See
