The Labelling of Food (Amendment) Order, 1953

The Minister of Food, in pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 2 of the Defence (Sale of Food) Regulations, 1943(a), as continued in force by the Emergency Laws (Continuance) Order, 1953(b), and of all other powers him enabling in that behalf, hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1954, and may be cited as the Labelling of Food (Amendment) Order, 1953.

2. The Labelling of Food Order, 1953(c), shall be amended as follows:—

(a) by inserting in the first proviso to sub-paragraph (d) of Article 8 thereof after the words "containing not less than 30 per cent. proof spirit," the words "'Atholl Brose' for a product consisting of malt whisky, oatmeal, honey and cream, with or without other ingredients, and containing not less than 25 per cent. proof spirit,";

(b) by deleting from Table A of the First Schedule thereto—

(i) the reference to "National Flour" in column 1 of items 2 and 8;

(ii) item 6 relating to speciality flour;

(iii) the reference to "'M' flour" in column 1 of item 9;

(c) by deleting from Table C of the First Schedule thereto the items relating to soft drinks, standard saccharin tablets and sweetening tablets;

(d) by adding to the said Table C the following item:—

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This amending Order—
