The Legal Aid in Criminal Proceedings (General) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1980

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 34 and 39 of the Legal Aid Act 1974(a) and with the concurrence of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Aid in Criminal Proceedings (General) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1980 and shall come into operation on 24th November 1980.

2. Any reference in the Legal Aid in Criminal Proceedings (General) Regulations 1968(b) to the Supplementary Benefits Commission shall be construed as a reference to the Secretary of State.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations amend the Legal Aid in Criminal Proceedings (General) Regulations 1968 to take account of the abolition of the Supplementary Benefits Commission and the transfer of its function to inquire into the means of an assisted person to the Secretary of State.
