The Local Authorities (Goods and Services) (Public Bodies) Order 1992

Made 11th November 1992

Laid before Parliament 18th November 1992

Coming into force 9th December 1992

The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(5) and (6) of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 19701and now vested in him2, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and the Secretary of State for Wales in exercise of the powers conferred on him by those provisions, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:

S-1 Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) (Public Bodies) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 9th December 1992.

S-2 Designation of bodies

Designation of bodies

2. Each of the following, being a person appearing to the Secretary of State to be exercising functions of a public nature, shall be a public body for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970 in its application to England and Wales:

Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools in England

Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools in Wales

Bethnal Green City Challenge Company Limited

Bradford City Challenge Limited

Deptford City Challenge Limited

Hulme Regeneration Limited

Nottingham City Challenge Partnership Limited.

S-3 Restrictions on agreements which may be entered into

Restrictions on agreements which may be entered into

3. Agreements which may be entered into by a company by virtue of this Order shall be restricted to agreements with a local authority for the supply of goods or materials, or the provision of administrative, professional or technical services, by that authority to that body, in connection with financial or other assistance given or to be given to that body by any person for the purposes of the regeneration of any part of that authority’s area.
