The Local Authority Social Services (Designation of Functions)

Whereas a draft of this instrument was laid before Parliament in accordance with section 13(3) of the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970 ( a) and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by section 2(2) of the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970 hereby makes the following order:-
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Authority Social Services (Designation of Functions) Order 1989 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
Functions to be discharged through a local authority's social services committee
2. The functions of local authorities under the following enactments are designated as being appropriate for discharge through a local authority's social services committee:-
Disabled Persons (Services, Consultation and Representation) Act 1986 [KFOOTNOTE b] |

Section 1 to 5, 7 and 8 except insofar as they assign functions to a local authority in their ckapacity of a local education authority. |
Representation and assessment of disabled persons. |
