The Board of Trade, in exercise of their powers under section 3 of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Act 1949(a) as amended by section 11 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1964(b) and under section 10 of the latter Act, as having effect by virtue of the Transfer of Functions (Shipping and Construction of Ships) Order 1965(c), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Rules: —
1.—(1) These Rules may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Radio) (Fishing Boats (Amendment) Rules 1969 and shall come into operation on 1st October 1969.
(2) The Interpretation Act 1889(d) shall apply to the interpretation of these Rules as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
2. The Merchant Shipping (Radio) (Fishing Boats) Rules 1965(e) shall be amended as follows :—
(1) In Rule 14, for the words "the Postmaster General"—
(a) where they first appear in paragraph (1)(a) and also where they appear in paragraph (1)(b), there shall be substituted the words "the Postmaster General or the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications" ;
(b) where they secondly appear in paragraph (1)(a) and also where they first appear in paragraph (2)(b), there shall be substituted the words "the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications" ;
(c) where they secondly appear in paragraph (2)(b), there shall be substituted the words "the Post Office".
(2) In Rule 22, for the words "the Postmaster General"—
(a) where they first appear in paragraph (2)(b) and also where they appear in paragraph (2)(b), there shall be substituted the words "the Postmaster General or the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications" ;
(b) where they secondly appear in paragraph (2)(a), there shall be substituted the words "the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications"

(3) In Rules 17(1) and 25(1), for the words "the Postmaster General" there shall be substituted the words "the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications".
(4) In Rule 27(1) and (3), for the words "the Performance Specification for a Voluntary-Fitted Radiotelephone Equipment for use solely for Distress, Urgency and Safety Purposes 1964 issued by the Postmaster General" there shall be substituted the words "the...
