POLICE

The Ministry of Defence Police (Police Committee) Regulations 1988

Made 23th June 1988

Laid before Parliament 27th June 1988

Coming into force 20th July 1988

The Secretary of State for Defence in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(5) of the Ministry of Defence Police Act 19871and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

S-1 Citation and Commencement

Citation and Commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Ministry of Defence Police (Police Committee) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 20th July 1988.

S-2 Interpretation

Interpretation

2. In these Regulations:—

“the Committee” means the Ministry of Defence Police Committee;

“the Secretary of State” means the Secretary of State for Defence.

S-3 Membership of the Committee

Membership of the Committee

3. The members of the Committee shall be:—

(a) the Second Permanent Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence, who shall be the Chairman of the Committee;

(b) the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, who shall be the vice-chairman of the Committee;

(c) the Deputy Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence responsible for civilian management;

(d) the Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff;

(e) the Assistant Chief of the General Staff;

(f) the Director General of Security for the Royal Air Force;

(g) the Assistant Under Secretary at the Ministry of Defence responsible for research and development establishments and research administration;

(h) the Assistant Under Secretary at the Ministry of Defence responsible for security, who shall be the Clerk to the Committee;

(i) such other persons as the Secretary of State may from time to time appoint.
