DANGEROUS DRUGS
The Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Regulations 197520thMarch 1975

In pursuance of sections 7, 10 and 31 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971(a) and after consultation with the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, I hereby make the following Regulations:—
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Regulations 1975 and shall come into operation on 1st May 1975.
2.—(1) In these Regulations, "the principal Regulations" means the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 1973(b) as amended by the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Regulations 1974(c).
(2) The Interpretation Act 1889(d) shall apply for the interpretation of these Regulations as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
3. The principal Regulations shall be amended as follows:—
(a) in Schedule 1, there shall be inserted after paragraph 3 the following paragraph:—
"3A. Any preparation of difenoxin (1-(3-cyano-3,3-diphenylpropyl)-4-phenylpiperidine-4-carboxylic acid) containing, per dosage unit, not more than 0·5 milligrammes of difenoxin and a quantity of atropine sulphate equivalent to at least 5 per cent. of the dose of difenoxin.";
(b) in paragraph 6 of Schedule 1, after the words "paragraphs 1 to 5" there shall be inserted the words "(including paragraph 3A)";
(c) in paragraph 1 of Schedule 2, after the word "Diethylthiambutene" there shall be inserted the words "Difenoxin (1-(3-cyano-3,3-diphenyl-propyl)-4-phenylpiperidine-4-carboxylic acid)"; and
(d) in paragraph 1 of Schedule 4, after the word "Psilocin" there shall be inserted the words "4-Bromo-2,5-dimethoxy-α-methylphenethylamine".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This Note is not part of the Regulations.)
These Regulations amend the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 1973 by adding certain preparations of difenoxin to Schedule 1; difenoxin to Schedule 2; and 4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxy-α-methylphenethylamine to Schedule 4 to those Regulations.
