The National Health Service (General Dental Services) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 1988

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 35(1) and 36(1) of the National Health Service Act 19771and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 15th January 1989.

2. In regulation 23(1) of the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 19732(Statement of Dental Remuneration)—

(a) in column 1 (Determination) below“VA”, there shall be inserted“VB”; and

(b) in column 2 (subject matter of determination) there shall be inserted, so as to relate to determination VB,“Partial reimbursement of expenses incurred, or likely to be incurred, in setting up or expanding a practice in an area where there is a shortage of dentists providing general dental services;”.

These Regulations amend the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 1973 which concern arrangements under which dentists provide general dental services under the National Health Service in England and Wales by providing for the Statement of Dental Remuneration (distributed to those providing general dental services) to include partial reimbursement of expenses of setting up or expanding a practice in an area where there is a shortage of dentists.
