The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 35, 36, 78, 79 and 81 of, and paragraphs 2 and 3 of Schedule 12 to, the National Health Service Act 1977(a) and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following regulations:-
Citation and commencement
1. These regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Amendment Regulations 1980 and shall come into operation on 1st October 1980.
Amendment to Regulations
2. The National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 1973(b) shall be further amended as follows:-
(1) In regulation 4 (Dental list) the words "the Secretary of State," shall be omitted from sub-paragraph (a) of paragraph (4) and after the words "a copy of the dental list to" in sub-paragraph (b) of that paragraph there shall be inserted the words "the Secretary of State,".
(2) In regulation 8 (Arrangements to complete treatment) in paragraph (2) for the words "specified in the provisions set out in regulation 19(1)" there shall be substituted the words "pursuant to the provisions of paragraphs 2 and 3 of Schedule 12 to the National Health Service Act 1977".
(3) In Regulation 20 (Additional charges for more expensive treatment)—
(a) In paragraph (2) for the words "under the provisions of regulation 19(1)" in both places where those words occur, there shall be substituted the words "pursuant to the provisions of paragraphs 2 and 3 of Schedule 12 to the National Health Service Act 1977".
(b) In the proviso to sub-paragraph (b)(i) of paragraph (2) for the words "in regulations made under the provisions set out in regulation 19(1)" there shall be substituted the words "pursuant to the provisions of paragraphs 2 and 3 of Schedule 12 to the said Act".

(4) In regulation 23 (Statement of Dental Remuneration) in paragraph (1), Column 2, after the words "items of dental treatment" there shall be inserted the words "and other services".
(5) In Schedule 1, Part I, paragraph 9 (Provision and prior approval of treatment) for sub-paragraph (5) there shall be substituted—
"(5) Where a dentist—
(a) has been notified that a patient has been requested to submit...
