The National Institutions Measure 1998 (Amendment) Resolution 2001

Laid before Parliament 19th November 2001

Coming into Force 1st January 2002

The General Synod, in exercise of the power conferred by section 1(4) of the National Institutions Measure 19981, hereby resolves as follows:

S-1 This Resolution may be cited as the National Institutions...

1. This Resolution may be cited as the National Institutions Measure 1998 (Amendment) Resolution 2001 and shall come into force on 1st January 2002.

S-2 For paragraph 4(2) of Schedule 1 to the National Institutions...

2. For paragraph 4(2) of Schedule 1 to the National Institutions Measure 19981, there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraph—

S-2

“2 Members of the Council elected under paragraph 1(1)(d), (e) or (f) above or appointed under paragraph 1(2) above shall serve for such number of years as may be determined in each case by the General Synod, being—

(a) in the case of members so elected, not less than three and not more than five years, and

(b) in the case of members so appointed, not less than one year and not more than five years.”.

This Resolution amends Schedule 1 to the National Institutions Measure 1998, so as to reduce from three years to one year the minimum period of service of members of the Archbishops' Council who are appointed by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, acting jointly.
