The Industrial Injuries Joint Authority in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 12(3), 14(7), 15(1), 19(4) (as amended by section 5(5) of the National Insurance Act 1966(a)), 78(2) and 81 of the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act 1965(b), and the Minister of Social Security in exercise of the powers conferred by section 16 of that Act and Schedule 7, paragraphs 2, 3 and 7, of the National Insurance Act 1967(c) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make in consequence of the said Act of 1967 the following regulations:—

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) These regulations may be cited as the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) (Increase of Benefit and Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 1967 and shall come into operation on 17th August 1967.

(2) In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires—

"the principal Act" means the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act 1965;

"the Act of 1967" means the National Insurance Act 1967;

"the Benefit Regulations" means the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) (Benefit) Regulations 1964(d);

"the Claims and Payments Regulations" means the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) (Claims and Payments) Regulations 1964(e);

and other expressions have the same meaning as in the principal Act.

(3) References in these regulations to any enactment or regulation shall, except-in so far as the context otherwise requires, include references to such enactment or regulation as amended or extended by or under any subsequent enactment, order or regulation.

(4) The rules for the construction of Acts of Parliament contained in the Interpretation Act 1889(f) shall apply for the purpose of the interpretation of these regulations as they apply for the purpose of the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

Increase in rates and amounts of benefit payable under regulations
