Dear Alan,
We have today given our consent to a request made to us by Network Rail to a proposed
change under Paragraph 11 of the Traction Electricity Rules (the TERs). The change
amends Appendix 5 (Geographic Areas) to the TERs to change the boundary of ESTA N
in the Eastern Region due to new electrification on the Midland Main Line.
The change shall have effect from 14 days after the date that Network Rail notifies the
relevant parties under Paragraph 11.16 of the TERs, such date being within 7 days of our
consent.
Background
Electrification of the Midland Main Line route previously covered the electrified lines from
City Thameslink and St Pancras to Bedford. Works have now been completed to extend
electrification to Corby and Market Harborough. The proposed change amends the
definition of ESTA N, so that it includes track between Bedford, and Corby and Market
Harborough.
Network Rail conducted an industry consultation, closing on 9th November 2020. No
responses were received to the
ORR review
ORR notes that the proposed change was previously shared with the Traction Electricity
Steering Group (TESG). ORR has no objections to the change.
