NEW ON
THE NET
Choose life...
Not trainspotting this time, but library and book-spot-
ting from a clean and convenient site that offers a tidy
set of resources for librarians, teachers and students.
Library Spot and BookSpot are offerings from
StartSpot Mediaworks, whose spokesperson
describes LibrarySpot as 'the information sweetspot
of the best library and reference resources on the
Web.
LibrarySpot is a 24-hour virtual library
resource center and an excellent starting point for
anyone exploring the Web for valuable research
information'. It certainly seems like a good and use-
ful site, featuring a 'Librarian's Shelf, rich with links.
It's rather US-centric, but worth a visit.

Harappa
Harappa was a city in the Indus Valley civilization
that flourished around 2,500 B.C. in the western part
of South Asia. Produced by Omar Khan, this site
contains an array of items relating to the city, includ-
ing a 90-slide tour of the Indus Valley and 3-D topo-
graphical recreations of the city. One hundred and
thirty historical photos are on offer via a city index or
active map, along with a selection of lithographs,
postcards and engravings, and a number of news-
reels in QuickTime format.

Picturing Justice
The depiction of the (primarily) American legal sys-
tem is the subject of this site, which is produced by
John Denvir, Paul Joseph and Rob Waring, and is
well worth a
visit,
its obliviousness to Rumpole of the
Bailey and Kavannagh QC notwithstanding.
Picturing Justice
provides insightful commentaries on
the portrayal of law, lawyers and legal issues in tele-
vision and films. The articles cover current television
series and films with a combination of analysis and
opinion.
The site publishes both reader-submitted
commentaries as well as many written by the editors.
While the articles are not lengthy, they provide a fair
amount of thoughtful critical commentary on the rep-
resentation of law on TV and in the cinema.
