An Act to provide for the leasing of the
Peebles Railway to the North British Railway
Company. [11th July 1861.]

HEREAS by " The North British Railway Consolidation Act,
21 & 22
Vict.
1858,"
the Acts relating to the North British Railway c-cix-
Company were repealed, and their Provisions consolidated and
amended: And whereas by "The
Peebles
Railway Act,
1853,'''
(in this 16&l7Vict.
Act called "the Act of 1853,") the Peebles Railway Company were c-lxxviiL
incorporated, and authorized to make a Railway from the Hawick Branch
of the North British Railway to
Peebles,
and the said Two Companies
were authorized to enter into Agreements with respect to the Use and
working of such Railway by the North British Railway Company, and
for the Conveyance of the Traffic thereon, and otherwise in relation
thereto: And whereas, under the Provisions of the Act of 1853, the
Peebles
Railway Company were authorized to raise Seventy thousand
Pounds by the Creation of Shares, and Twenty-three thousand Pounds
by borrowing on Mortgage, and by " The
Peebles
Railway Amendment
Act, 1857," (in this Act called "the Act of 1857,") the said Company
were authorized to raise Twrenty-seven thousand Pounds by Preference
Shares, and Nine thousand Pounds by borrowing on Mortgage: And
