Act to confer further powers on the North British

1901.
Railway Company in connexion with their undertaking
to authorise the widening
of
portions
of
their Monklaiid
Railway,
and
the construction
of
new railways
to
authorise
the
said
Company to acquire additional lands
and
for
other purposes. [9th August

expedid that tke North British

(in
this Act called
‘‘
the Company”) should be
authorised
as
in this Act provided-
(1)
To
ilnake

of
their Monkland

the

of
Lanark
and
TJinlithgo

(2)
To
mske and maintain two short railways
in
the royal burgh
and
parish
of
Kirkcaldy and
in
the parish
of
Dysart
in
tlie
county
of
Fife
in
coiinexion with their Edinburgh Perth
and
Dundee Railway
;
(3)
To
acquire additioiial lands
for
the general purposes
of
their untlertttkiiig
;
(4)

stop up
and
discontinue
so
much
of
the path or way
or
paths
or
ways
in tlie parish
of
Glasgow
in
the counties
of
Lanark
and
of
the
city
of
Glasgow as
is
situate within the
limits
of
the additional lands
to
be acquired by
the
Company
on
the east side
of
and adjoining their Edinburgh and Glasgow
Bailway near Cowlairs East Junction
;
(5)
To
hold
certain
lands which have been already acquired by
the Company
:
And
whereas it
is
expedient-
To
extend the time limited by the North British Railway
(General Powers) Act
1898
for the compulsory purchase
of
lands
and
for the completion
of
Railway
(BO.
1)
described
in
section
4
of
the said Act

to

extend the period

the said Gifford and Garvald Railway Act
1893
for
the
purposes
of
the

extend
the periods respectively

compulsory purchase and

of
the railway

light railway

accordance

And whereas

expedient, that further and better provision
should be made
for
the appointment
of

constables to act
in
connexion with
any
mxttor
or
business in which the Company
are interested
:
And whereas
it

expedclient that the Compny should be
empovwecl
to
raise additional cnpital for the purposes
of
this Act
and
for
the genpral purposes
of
their unrlwtakinq
and
to
apply
their fids
to
such purposes
:
And
whereas it
is
expedient that
all
debmturp
stocks
of
the
Company
created or authorised should be ciesiqnated
by
the
same nxme and should forin part
of
North
British
Railway
Debenture Stock
:
And whereas plans and sections
shoainq
the proposed widenings
new railways and works by this Act authorised to be constructed
and
plans
of
the lands
by
t,his Act authorised
to
be acquired and
dso

of
reference containing the names
of
the owners and
lessees
or
reputed owners and lessees and
of
the occupiers
of
the
lands
required
or
which
inay
be taken
€or
the purposes
or
under
the powers
of
this Act were
duly
deposited
with
the principal
sheriff clerks
of
the several counties within which
those
works
