The Northern Ireland Assembly (Dissolution) Order 1986

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:

And whereas it appears to Her Majesty that the conditions set out in section 5(1) of the Northern Ireland Act 1982(a) are satisfied:

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 5(1) of the Northern Ireland Act 1982, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Assembly (Dissolution) Order 1986 and shall come into operation forthwith.

2. The date of dissolution for the Northern Ireland Assembly, instead of being determined in accordance with section 27 of the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973(b), shall be the date of the coming into operation of this Order.

(b) 1973 c.36; subsections (2) to (4) and (6) of section 27 were substituted by paragraph 5 of Schedule 2 to the Northern Ireland Act 1982 and subsection (1) and part of subsection (7) were repealed by Schedule 3 to that Act.
