In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 10(2) and (4) of the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979(a) and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, after consultation with the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting in accordance with section 10(5) of that Act, I hereby make the following order:—
Citation and commencement
1. This order may be cited as the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors (Parts of the Register) Order 1983 and shall come into operation on 1st July 1983.
Parts of the register
2. It is hereby determined that the parts of the register shall be the parts specified in Schedule 1 to this order, the parts being indicative of different qualifications and different kinds and standards of training.
Closing of part of the register
3.Part 9 of the register (fever nurses) shall be closed on 1st July 1983 immediately after this order comes into operation except for the purpose of restoring to Part 9 of the register the name of a person whose name has been removed from it.
Registration of persons already qualified
4.—(1) Persons included in a register or roll specified in numbered paragraphs in column 1 of Schedule 2 to this order which was maintained under an enactment specified in column 2 of the said Schedule shall be
(a)1979 c. 36.
registered in the part of the register specified in the corresponding paragraph of column 3 to the said Schedule.
(2)Persons certified under section 2 of the Health Visiting and Social Work Training Act 1962(a) (functions of Council for the Training of Health Visitors) shall be registered in Part 11 of the register (health visitors).

PARTS OF THE REGISTER
Part 1 - First level nurses trained in general nursing.
Part 2 - Second level nurses trained in general nursing (England and Wales).
Part 3 - First level nurses trained in the nursing of persons suffering from mental illness.
Part 4 - Second level nurses trained in the nursing of persons suffering from mental illness (England and Wales).
Part 5 - First level nurses trained in the nursing of persons suffering from mental handicap.
