OBITUARY
G. S. Maddala
(1933±1999)
The editors of the Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics record with
much sadness the news of the death of Professor G. S. Maddala in June
1999. Professor Maddala contributed with great distinction to many ®elds
of economics and econometrics, including limited dependent variable
models, the econometrics of structural change, rational expectations, boot-
strapping and unit root testing in panel data and remained actively involved
in his research until the end. He will be deeply missed by the profession and
by his many colleagues and students whom he helped and in¯uenced.
