ORDER IN COUNCIL APPROVING GENERAL ORDERS REGULATING THE PROCEDURE AND PRACTICE OF NAVAL COURTS-MARTIAL.(a)

PRESENT,

The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

Whereas there was this day read at the Board a Report of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, dated the 10th day of July, 1923, in the words following:—

29 & 30 Vict. c. 109.

"Your Majesty having been pleased, by Your Order in Council of the 7th day of July, 1923, to refer unto this Committee a Memorial of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 29th day of June, 1923, praying that the General Orders for regulating the Procedure and Practice of Naval Courts-Martial sanctioned by Your Majesty's Order in Council of the 20th day of April, 1918(b), should be cancelled, and Revised General Orders substituted in lieu thereof, and likewise to refer unto this Committee in accordance with the provisions of the Naval Discipline Act, 1866, the said Revised General Orders, to consider the same and report their opinion to Your Majesty in Council:

"The Lords of the Committee in obedience to Your Majesty's said Order of Reference have taken the said Memorial and the said Revised General Orders into consideration, and Their Lordships do this day agree humbly to report to Your Majesty in Council as their opinion, that the General Orders for regulating the Procedure and Practice of Naval Courts-Martial sanctioned by Your Majesty's Order in Council of the 20th day of April, 1918, ought to be cancelled, and that the Revised General Orders annexed to this Report ought to be substituted in lieu thereof:"
