Rob Allen is an independent researcher and co-founder of Justice and Prisons
(www.justiceandprisons.org). Rob was director of the International Centre for Prison
Studies (ICPS) at King’s College London from 2005 until 2010 and was a member of the
Youth Justice Board from 1998 to 2006. He chaired CLINKS from 2005-10 and was an
adviser to the House of Commons Justice Select Committee from 2007 to 2010. He ha s
written widel y on youth and criminal justic e in the UK and abroad. Publications include:
From Punishment to Problem Solving (2006), Justice Reinvestment- A New Approach to
Crime and Justice (2007), Last Resort Exploring the Reduction in Child Imprisonment
(2011) and Alternatives to Prison in East Africa Trends and Cha llenges (2012). Rob has a
