PERSONAL INVESTMENT AUTHORITY: RULE CHANGE
UPDATE
In March 1995 the PIA issued Rule
Notice 9 which makes certain amend-
ments to both the PIA Rules and
Adopted FIMBRA, LAUTRO, IMRO
and SIB Rules, with effect from 10th
April, 1995.
GENERAL RULE WAIVER
Any transferring member (formerly
regulated by other SROs) who is
admitted to PIA membership after
1st February, 1995, has a three-
month period from the date of
notification of admittance before hav-
ing to comply with the Status
Disclosure Rules
4.2.3,
4.3 and 4.4 in
Ch. 4 PIA Rules.

CH. 4 PIA RULES
In order to provide clarification in
areas of difficulty and to provide for
greater flexibility the following
amendments have been made:
-Rules 4.4.3(l)(d) and (f)(ii) have
been amended so that individuals
who are, or are employed by,
appointed representatives must
print their business cards in accord-
ance with Rule 4.4.3(1)(d)
including, where their member is a
product provider, a brief descrip-
tion of the products they are
appointed to sell.
-Rules 4.4.3(l)(a) and 4.4.4(2)(a),
relating to the stationery of mem-
bers,
which are members of a
marketing group, allowing such
members to choose whether to
show the name of the marketing
group and, if so whether to give
greater prominence to the name of
the member or to the name of the
marketing group. Appointed repre-
sentative firms' stationery must
state prominently either the name
of the member or the marketing
group, in accordance with
4.4.6(2)(b). New sub-para. (c)
inserts for consistency the state-
ment of regulatory status.
A new regulator's statement for mem-
bers which are members of a
marketing group has been added.
