The Police Pensions (Amendment) Regulations 19787thMarch 1978

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by sections 1, 3 and 4 of the Police Pensions Act 1976(a) and after consultation with the Police Council for the United Kingdom, I hereby, with the consent of the Minister for the Civil Service, make the following Regulations:—
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Police Pensions (Amendment) Regulations 1978.
2. These Regulations shall come into operation on 6th April 1978 and shall have effect as from 1st January 1974.
3. In Regulation 2 of the Police Pensions (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1977(b) for paragraph (3) there shall be substituted the following paragraph:—
"(3) Nothing in Regulation 13 shall affect the operation of Regulation 85 of the Police Pensions Regulations 1973, as originally made, in relation to a regular policeman in respect of whom a transfer value under the said Regulation has been paid before 6th April 1978.".
4. The Police Pensions Regulations 1973(c) as amended(d) shall be amended as follows :—
(a) in Regulation 83 (transfer values payable in respect of previous service in a police force) in paragraph (4) after the words "police authority of the force of which" there shall be inserted the words "he is a member a sum equal to the award to which"; and
(b) in Part I of Schedule 9 (transfer and interchange arrangements)—
(i) in paragraph 1(1)(c) for the word "accrued" in the third place where it occurs there shall be substituted the word "deferred";

(c) S.I. 1973/428.
(d) The relevant amending instrument is S.I. 1977/2173.
(ii) in paragraph 2(5) for the words "paragraph 4" there shall be substituted the words "paragraph 5";
(iii) in paragraph 10(2)(d) for the words "paragraph 5" there shall be substituted the words "paragraph 6".
