The
demands
on
practice
teachers
to
provide
anti-racist
learning
and
teaching
opportunities
will
increase
under
the
regulations
for
the
Diploma
in
Social
Work.

how
competence
can
be
assessed

probation
practice
taught
from
an
anti-racist
perspective.

of
the
most
daunting
situations
that
can

face
a
white
practice
teacher,
working
in
a
largley
white
community
is
the
expectation
and
perbaps
even
the
contractual
obligation
to
provide
anti-racist
learning
opportunities
for
their
student.
The
;rc~~actance
or
bewilderment
on the
part
of
some
practice
teacher,~,
how-
ever,
does
not
necessarily
reflect
a
refusal
to
recognise
or
attach
importance
to
the
impact
of
racism
on
social
work
practice.
More
often,
it
is
a
reflection
of
poor
support,
inadequate
training,
unclear
policies
and
above
all
ignorance
of
what
is
actually
meant
by
’anti-
racist
learning
opportunities’
and
’anti-racist
practice
teaching’.
