[1] Thomas Ashe Mellon (“the Defendant”) faces three counts on indictment
15/003230 – Directing a terrorist organisation, contrary to section 56(1) of the
Terrorism Act 2000 (“the 2000 Act”), belonging to or professing to belong to a
proscribed organisation, contrary to section 11(1) of the 2000 Act and possession of
articles for use in terrorism, contrary to section 57(1) of the 2000 Act.
[2] The offences are particularised as follows:
“On a date unknown between 31 December 2013 and
7 June 2014, in the County Court Division of
Londonderry or elsewhere within the jurisdiction of the
Crown Court, directed the activities of an organisation,
namely the Irish Republican Army, which was concerned
in the commission of acts of terrorism.”
