CHAP, xxxvii.
An Act to authorize " The Kadcliffe and Pilkington Gas
A.D.
1869,
Company" to raise further monies by shares and by
borrowing. [24th June 1869.]

HEREAS by " The Badcliffe and Pilkington Gas Act, 1854," i7&i8Vict.
the Badcliffe and Pilkington Gas Company (who are herein C«V1U«-
referred to as the company) were incorporated for lighting with gas
the town and parish of Badcliffe and the township of Pilkington,
and also a distance of three miles, to be computed from the centre of
Badcliffe Bridge in Badcliffe aforesaid:
And whereas the company are by the said Act authorized 4o raise
thirty thousand pounds by shares and eight thousand pounds by
borrowing:
And whereas nearly the whole of the said share, capital has been
raised and expended, and the company now owe on mortgage eight
thousand pounds :
And whereas by reason of the increasing demand for gas within
the limits authorized to be supplied by the company they require
additional capital, and it is expedient that they be authorized to
raise the same in manner by this Act authorized, and that the
powers and provisions of the said recited Act should be in certain
respects amended and enlarged; but for this the authority of
Parliament is necessary:
May it therefore please Your Majesty that it may be enacted;
and be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent. of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal,
and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the
authority of the same, as follows; (that is to say,)

In citing this Act for any purpose it shall be sufficient to use Short title.
the expression " The Badcliffe and Pilkington Gas Act, 1869."

The said recited Act and this Act shall be construed as One This and re-
Act, except so far as such construction would be inconsistent with
