The Registrar General of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Scotland in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Section 6 of the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Scotland) Act, 1854(a), sections 3 and 6 of the Population (Statistics) Act, 1938(b) as amended(c) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, with the approval of the Secretary of State hereby makes the following regulations:—

1.—(1) These regulations may be cited as the Registration of Births, Still-Births and Deaths (Statistics) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations, 1960 and shall come into operation on 1st January, 1961.

(2) These regulations and the Registration of Births and Deaths (Statistics) Regulations (Scotland), 1938(d) may be cited together as the Registration of Births, Still-Births and Deaths (Statistics) (Scotland) Regulations, 1938 and 1960.

2. In these regulations the expression "the principal regulations" means the Registration of Births and Deaths (Statistics) Regulations (Scotland), 1938.

3. In Regulation 3 of the principal regulations for the words "of a married man, a married woman, or a woman who had been married" there shall be substituted the words "of a married man or a married woman".

4. For the First and Second Schedules to the principal regulations there shall be substituted respectively the First and Second Schedules to these regulations.

FIRST SCHEDULE

(REGISTRATION OF BIRTH OR STILL-BIRTH)

1. In all cases the age of the mother.

2. Where the name of any person is to be entered in the register of births as father of the child, the age of that person.

3. Except where the birth is of an illegitimate child—

(i) whether the mother had been married before her marriage to the father of the child;

(ii) the number of children of the mother by her present husband and by any former husband, and how many of them were born...
