REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE

In exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 42 and 171(5) of and Schedule 4 to the Representation of the People Act 1949(a) and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I hereby make the following regulations:—

1.—(1) These regulations may be cited as the Representation of the People (Scotland) Regulations 1973 and shall come into operation fourteen days after they have been approved by both Houses of Parliament.

(2) The Interpretation Act 1889(b) shall apply for the interpretation of these regulations as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

2. After regulation 21(a) of the Representation of the People (Scotland) Regulations 1969(c) there shall be inserted the following paragraph:—

"(aa) one copy of the register for any constituency or part of a constituency included in the registration area to the Member of Parliament for that constituency;".
