The Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations, 1952

In pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by section forty-two and subsection (5) of section one hundred and seventy-one of the Representation of the People Act, 1949(a), I hereby make the following Regulations:—

1. Instead of lists A, B and C which by Regulation 6 of the Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations, 1950(b), comprise the electors lists for a registration unit there shall be one list and accordingly—

(a) for the said Regulation 6 there shall be substituted the following Regulation:—

"6.—(1) The electors list shall be framed in separate parts for each registration unit in the constituency and the order of names in each registration unit shall be the same as the order of names in that unit for the purposes of the electors lists prepared under the Elections and Franchise Act (Northern Ireland), 1946 (Reprint to 1948).

(2) The names in the electors list need not be numbered."; and

(b) for the words "electors lists", wherever those words occur in the said Regulations, there shall be substituted the words "electors list".

2. In paragraph (2) of Regulation 7 of the said Regulations for the words "the eighteenth day of January" there shall be substituted the words "the twenty-fifth day of January".

3.—(1) In paragraph (1) of Regulation 9 of the said Regulations for the words "the fifth day of February" there shall be substituted the words "the eighth day of February".

(2) In paragraph (3) of the said Regulation 9 for the words "the fifth day of February" there shall be substituted the words "the eighth day of February".

4. In paragraph (a) of Regulation 18 of the said Regulations the words "of Lists B and C" shall be omitted.

5. In Form C in the Schedule to the said Regulations for the words "5th February", in each place where those words occur, there shall be substituted the words "8th February".

6.—(1) These Regulations shall come into force fourteen days after they have been approved by both Houses of Parliament.
