The Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations, 1954

In pursuance of the powers conferred on me by section forty-two and subsection (5) of section one hundred and seventy-one of the Representation of the People Act, 1949(a), I hereby make the following Regulations:—

1. In paragraph (2) of Regulation 7 of the Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations, 1950(b) (which relates to the publication of the electors list), as amended by Regulation 2 of the Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations, 1952(c), for the words "the twenty-fifth day of January" there shall be substituted the words "the eleventh day of December".

2. In paragraphs (1) and (3) of Regulation 9 of the first-mentioned Regulations (which relates to the time for making claims and objections), as amended by Regulation 3 of the second-mentioned Regulations, for the words "the eighth day of February" in each place where those words occur there shall be substituted the words "the twenty-seventh day of December".

3. In Form A in the Schedule to the first-mentioned Regulations for any reference to the thirty-first day of October there shall be substituted a reference to the fifteenth day of September, for any reference to the first day of November there shall be substituted a reference to the sixteenth day of September and for any reference to the second day of April there shall be substituted a reference to the sixteenth day of February.

4. In Form C in the Schedule to the first-mentioned Regulations, as amended by Regulation 5 of the second-mentioned Regulations, for any reference to the eighth day of February there shall be substituted a reference to the twenty-seventh day of December.

5.—(1) These Regulations shall come into operation fourteen days after they have been approved by both Houses of Parliament.

(2) These Regulations may be cited as the Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations, 1954.
