REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE
The Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations 19626thJuly 1962

In pursuance of the powers conferred on me by sections 42 and 171 (5) of the Representation of the People Act 1949(a) I hereby make the following Regulations:—
1. For Regulations 1 to 3 and 5 to 16 of, and Form C in the Schedule to, the Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1950(b), as amended by the Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1952(c) and the Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1954(d) (which relate to the preparation of the register of electors) there shall be substituted the following Regulation:—
"Preparation of the register
1.—(1) The register shall, so far as practicable, be combined with the register of parliamentary electors or, as the case may be, the register of parliamentary and local electors prepared and published under section 28 of the Electoral Law Act (Northern Ireland) 1962(e), the names of persons registered only as parliamentary or local electors, or both, under that Act being marked to indicate that fact.
(2) All claims for registration and all objections to any person's registration shall be made within the time and in the manner prescribed by, and shall be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of, the said Act of 1962, so however that nothing in this paragraph shall apply to any appeal under section 45 of the Representation of the People Act 1949 (which relates to registration appeals).
(3) Without prejudice to the provisions of the foregoing paragraph the register and electors lists shall be prepared and published in the manner and for the time laid down by or under the said Act of 1962.".
2. For Regulation 24 of the Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1950 (which relates to the corrupt and illegal practices list) there shall be substituted the following Regulation:—
"Corrupt and illegal practices list
24.—(1) The corrupt and illegal practices list shall, so far as practicable, be combined with the corrupt and illegal practices list prepared and published under section 32 of the Electoral Law Act (Northern Ireland) 1962.
(2) Any person named in the corrupt and illegal practices list may claim to have his name omitted therefrom and any registration officer and any person named in the electors lists for the register may object to the omission of the name of any...
