Abstract
Purpose This paper aims to expoundthe composition and characteristics of SMR Data,to elaborate the
role of the SMR Datain the comprehensivestudy of Anti-Japanese War from three aspects.
Design/methodology/approach There are several methodologies included in this thesis, such as
literatureinquiry, questionnaire survey, eld investigationand expert consultation.
Findings The SMR Data is a historical portrayal of the 40 years of SMR. Its content is integrative,
comprehensive and systematic. It covers a large area and a wide range of topics and can reectthe whole
process of Japanesemilitarisms invasion of China from different aspects.
Originality/value The study of historical subjectis not for the historical fact itself,exploring yesterday
is looking for lessons for today. Because the imperialism phenomenon still exists and has not completely
withdrew from the historical stage, people step into the typicalimperialist colonial aggression, mighty and
quite rich mysteriousSMR kingdomhistoric sites, to explore the profoundtruth, unravel mysteries and nd
out the warning. Taking history as a mirror,all peace-loving people in the world call for a new international
order and realizethe harmonious coexistence of mankind.

1. Introduction
On January 3, 2017, the Ministry of Education of the Peoples Republic of China issued the
No. 1 letter of 2017 <the Letter on the Full Implementation of the Concept of" Fourteen
Years of Anti-Japanese Warin the Local Curriculum Materials of Primary and Secondary
Schools>. The documents required all levels of education authorities to fully screen and
change the wording of Eight Years of Anti-Japanese Warto Fourteen Years of Anti-
Japanese War, modify the relatedcontent and make sure to set up and highlight the concept
of Fourteen Years of Anti-JapaneseWar[1].
The Japanese invaders created the September 18th Incidentin 1931, occupied the
northeast China, set up the Manchukuo Puppet government and caused disturbances in
other areas of China, trying to start a war. The national government of China adopted a
policy of compromise to avoid escalation of conict. On July 7, 1937, the Japanese Army
provoked theLugouqiaoIncidentnear Peiping, and the Anti-Japanese War broke out.
For a long time, the war has been ofcially recognized by China as the Eight Years of
Anti-Japanese War.However, foreign and domestic scholars have never ceased the studyof
the Fourteen Years of Anti-Japanese War. The term Eight Years of Anti-Japanese War
refers to the period from the full outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War in 1937 under the
Lugouqiao Incidentto the unconditional surrender of the emperor of Japan on August 15,
1945. It would have been 14 years from the September 18th Incidentin 1931 to Japans
