The government’s ‘Get On’campaign
aims to encourage two million new people
to take up basic skills learning by 2004. To
coincide with the campaign, Axis
Education has published its Basic Skills

financial literacy, cooking, finding
housing, maintaining a home, job hunting,
job applications and job interviews. The
books are well designed, accessible and
relevant, as well as educational. They have
an average reading age of 8.8 years and
are likely to be particularly useful for
money advice officers, housing specialists
and basic skills teachers in prisons. The
four ‘life skills’titles are priced at £34.95
each or the set of four for £115. The three
‘job skills’titles are £39.95 each or £100
for the set of three. Available from Axis
Education, PO Box 459, Shrewsbury
SY4 4WZ. Tel: 01939 251007.

office notice boards. Available for £12.50
