Alcohol awareness
Drinkaware is a website that is supporting the Government’s Know Your Limits
awareness campaign. It includes information about safe drinking. The website
covers a variety of aspects of drinking including talking about drinking with
children and first aid information. There is a unit calculator to help work out the
level of use and there is information about the effects of alcohol and what happens
to your body. The website covers alcohol and the law, including drink driving,
purchasing and drunkenness. This information includes the legislation in Scotland
and Northern Ireland, and England and Wales. The website can be accessed at:

Mental Health Act 2007
The Mental Health Bill to amend the 1983 Mental Health Act completed its parlia-
mentary stages on 4 July 2008 and received Royal Assent, becoming the Mental
Health Act 2007. On 3 November 2008 the changes came into force. The National
Institute for Mental Health in England (NIMHE) has a webpage that can help those
working with the new Act. The site includes free access to a guide that sets out the
main provisions of the Act and the associated secondary legislation, a guide for
practitioners, and a code of practice document. The purpose of the website is to
inform those involved in mental health care of the changes and the impact the
changes might have. The new statutory forms for use in connection with the Mental
Health Act can be obtained from the site. The information is available at http://
