On 14 December 2019, shortly
after winning an 80-seat
parliamentary majority,
Boris Johnson held a rally in
Sedgefield, Tony Blair’s former constituency,
during which he vowed that everything he
did as Prime Minister would be ‘devoted’ to
‘repaying the trust’ that voters had put in
him, and delivering on the promise to ‘Get
Brexit Done’. But will getting Brexit done
restore political trust among the British
