Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 (2) of the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973(a) as extended by paragraph 1(7) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974(b), and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
Title, commencement and extent
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland Consequential Amendments) Order 1981.
(2) The provisions of this Order shall come into operation on the expiration of the period of one month beginning with the day after the day on which the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(c) is made.
(3) This Order extends to the whole of the United Kingdom.
Amendment of the Road Traffic Act 1972
2. In the Road Traffic Act 1972(d)—
(a) in section 119(1)(h)—
(i) the words "Part II of the Road Traffic Act (Northern Ireland) 1955 or" are hereby repealed;
(ii) after "1970" there shall be inserted "or Part II of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981";

(b) in section 125(5)—
(i) the words "Part II of the Road Traffic Act (Northern Ireland) 1955 or" are hereby repealed;
(ii) after "1970" there shall be inserted "or Part II of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981".
Amendment of the Road Traffic Act 1974
3.—(1) The following provisions of the Road Traffic Act 1974(a) are hereby repealed—
(a) in section 20—
(i) subsection (2);
(ii) in subsection (3), the words "or, as the case may be, Part V of the Road Traffic Act (Northern Ireland) 1970" and "or section 84 of the said Act of 1970";
(b) in section 24—
(i) in subsection (4), the words "Except in its application to Northern Ireland,";
(ii) in subsection (5), the words ", except section 20," and from ", and in its application" to the end.
(2) In section 20(3) of that Act, for "subsections (1) and (2)" there shall be substituted "subsection (1)".
