The Royal Air Force Terms of Service (Amendment) Regulations 198030thMay 1980

The Defence Council in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 2 of the Armed Forces Act 1966(a) as amended by section 2 of the Armed Forces Act 1976(b) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following regulations:—
Citation and commencement
1. These regulations may be cited as the Royal Air Force Terms of Service (Amendment) Regulations and shall come into operation on the first day of July 1980.
Amendment of the Royal Air Force Terms of Service Regulations 1977
2. The Royal Air Force Terms of Service Regulations 1977(c), as amended(d), shall be further amended as follows:
(1) In regulation 3 by the deletion of paragraph (2) and by the substitution therefor of the following paragraph—
"(2) The term referred to in paragraph (1) shall be a term expiring on a date falling between 6 months and 22 years after the relevant date.";
(2) In Regulation 4—
(a) by the deletion of paragraph (1) and by the substitution therefor of the following paragraph—
"(1) Subject to Regulation 7, a person in air force service shall, at the end of the period of 9 years beginning with the relevant date, and at any time thereafter, have the right—exercisable in accordance with Regulation 6—
(a) in the case of a man who has completed less than 10 years 6 months service, to be transferred to the reserve,
(b) In the case of a woman, and in the case of a man who has completed not less than 10 years 6 months service, to determine service.";

(d) There are no relevant amendments.
(c) in paragraph (7) by the deletion of the amount of "£20" wherever it appears and by the substitution of the words "7 days' gross pay".
