The Rural District Council Election Rules, 1954

In pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by section twenty-nine of the Representation of the People Act, 1949(a), I hereby make the following Rules:—

1. In the proviso to paragraph (6) of Rule 6 in the First Schedule to the Rural District Council Election Rules, 1951(b) (which relates to the subscription of nomination papers), for the words "the sixteenth day of March" there shall be substituted the words "the sixteenth day of February" and after the words "Electoral Registers Act, 1949"(c) there shall be inserted the words "as amended by subsection (2) of section one of the Electoral Registers Act, 1953"(d).

2.—(1) In paragraph (4) of Rule 32 in the First Schedule to the said Rules (which relates to the delivery of ballot papers to voters) for the words "sixteenth day of March" there shall be substituted the words "sixteenth day of February" and after the words "Electoral Registers Act, 1949" there shall be inserted the words "as amended by subsection (2) of section one of the Electoral Registers Act, 1953".

(2) In the proviso to the said paragraph (4) after the words "apart from section two of the said Act" there shall be inserted the words "as so amended".

3. In Note 5 in the form of nomination paper set out in the Appendix to the First Schedule to the said Rules for the words "15th March" there shall be substituted the words "15th February".

4. These Rules may be cited as the Rural District Council Election Rules, 1954, and shall come into operation on the first day of February, 1955.
