The Scottish Local Elections Amendment Rules 1979

In exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 7 and 233 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973(a), and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I hereby make the following rules:—

1. These rules may be cited as the Scottish Local Elections Amendment Rules 1979 and shall come into operation on 1st August 1979.

2. The Timetable contained in Rule 1(1) of Schedule 1 to the Scottish Local Elections Rules 1974(b) shall be amended by substituting, in the column headed "Time"—

(a) for the words "fourth Tuesday" in the first entry in that Timetable (publication of notice of election) the words "fifth Tuesday"; and

(b) for the words "third Tuesday" in the second entry in that Timetable (delivery of nomination papers) the words "fourth Tuesday".
