The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Secretary of State for Scotland, the Secretary of State for Wales and the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 16(1), (1A) and (8) of the Plant Varieties and Seeds Act 1964(a) and now vested in them(b) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, after consultation with representatives of such interests as appear to them to be concerned, hereby make the following regulations:—
Citation and commencement
1. These regulations may be cited as the Seeds (National Lists of Varieties) (Amendment) Regulations 1980 and shall come into operation on 1st August 1980.
Amendment
2. The Seeds (National Lists of Varieties) Regulations 1979(c) are hereby amended in the manner and to the extent prescribed in the Schedule to these regulations.

(b) In the case of the Secretary of State for Wales by the Transfer of Functions (Wales) (No. 1) Order 1978 (S.I. 1978/272). The Plant Varieties and Seeds Act 1964 was extended to Northern Ireland by the Plant Varieties and Seeds (Northern Ireland) Orders 1964 and 1973 (S.I. 1964/1574 and 1973/609).

Regulation 2
THE SCHEDULE
AMENDMENTS TO THE SEEDS (NATIONAL LISTS OF VARIETIES) REGULATIONS 1979
1. Part I of Schedule 1 to the regulations (agricultural crop varieties) shall be amended as follows:
(1) For the following
"Hordeum distichum L. 2 row barley
Hordeum polystichum L. 6 row barley"
there shall be substituted—
"Hordeum vulgare L. Barley"
(2) for the following
"Triticum aestivum L. em. Fiori et Paol. Wheat"
there shall be substituted—
"Triticum aestivum L. emend. Fiori et Paol. Wheat"
(3) For the following
"Agrostis canina L. ssp. canina Hwd. Velvet bent"
there shall be substituted—
