BRITISH
INTERNATIONAL
LAW
CASES.
A
Collection
of
Decisions
of
Courts
in
the
British
Isles
on
Points
of
International
Law.
Volume
I.
States
as
International
Persons.
1964.
(London:
Stevens.
New
York:
Oceana.
xv,
691pp.
$18.00)
This
volume,
prepared under
the
editorial
direction
of
Dr.
Clive
Parry,
is
the
first
of
a
series
that
will
collect
together
British
decisions
on
points
of
public
international
law
from the
days
of
Elizabeth
I
and
earlier
to
1950
(prize cases
as
such
and
cases
on
the
laws of
war
and
neutrality
are
excluded,
although
the
latter
may
be
published
in
a
subsequent
series). The
number
of volumes
in
the
series
is
not
given,
but,
considering
that
Volume I
deals
only
with
one of
the many
topics
of
international
law,
it
clearly
will
be
large.
The object
of
the
series
is
solely
to
make
British
international
law
cases
more
accessible.
Consequently
an
attempt
has
been
made
to
collect
all the
cases,
and
the
cases
themselves
have not
been
edited
but
have
been
reprinted as
they
are
in
the
reports,
even
with
head-
notes. The
decision
to
reproduce
the reports
in
exten.so
is
commendable,
for
even
the
most
scrupulous
editing
may
distort
the
true
significance
of
a
case.
Because
international
adjudications
are
so
few,
the
decisions
of
national
courts
are
an
important
source,
though
a
subsidiary
one,
of
international
law.
This
is
especially
true
of
the British
decisions,
for
their
volume
and
variety,
reflecting
Britain's
dominance
in
international
affairs
during
past
centuries,
often make
them
more
helpful
than
those
of
other
national
courts;
furthermore,
their
influence
is
enhanced
by
the
high
prestige
of
the
British
courts.
This
collection
of
cases
is,
therefore,
most
welcome
even
though
its
comprehensiveness
makes
it
unsuitable
for
student
use.
Let
us
hope
that
its
publication
will
encourage
similar
projects
elsewhere.

AGRICULTURAL

Proposals

International

The
"Kennedy
Round"
negotiations
on
industrial
products
have
now,
formally,
at
least,
been
launched.
The
related negotiations
on
agri-
cultural
products
are
to
be
started
in
January.
Dr.
Richter's
essay
on
the
problem
of
agricultural
production
and protection
is
therefore
timely.
The
sub-title
of
this
book
is
"Proposals
for
an
International
Policy."
Its
chief
value,
however,
is
that
it
provides
a
concise
and
precise
description
of
the
main
elements
on
the
Common
Agricultural
Policy
of
the
EEC,
and
of
the
various proposals
for
bringing
this
policy
under
