CHAPTER xx
An Act to authorise the sale of the churchyard appurtenant
to the former church of Saint Thomas Apostle in the
city of London, to authorise the erection of buildings
thereon; and for other purposes. [3rd July, 1962.]

HEREAS the ancient church of Saint Thomas Apostle
(Queen Street) in the city of London (hereinafter called
"the church") was destroyed in the Great Fire of
London in the year sixteen hundred and sixty-six and was not
rebuilt:
And whereas by virtue of a reorganisation scheme for the
city of London made under the Reorganisation Areas Measure,
1944,
and coming into force on the second day of February,
nineteen hundred and fifty-four, part of the former parish of
Saint Thomas Apostle now forms part of the parish of
Saint Stephen Walbrook and Saint Swithun London Stone, with
Saint Benet
Sherehog and Saint Mary Bothaw with Saint Laurence,
Pountney, and the freehold of the churchyard appurtenant to the
church is now vested in the incumbent of the benefice of
Saint Stephen Walbrook and Saint Swithun London Stone, with
Saint Benet Sherehog and Saint Mary Bothaw with Saint
Laurence, Pountney, and the present incumbent thereof is the
Reverend Edward Chad Varah:
And whereas burials in the said churchyard were discontinued
by Order in Council of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria dated
foe eighth day of August, eighteen hundred and fifty-three:
And whereas it is expedient that the said churchyard should
